Arizona born and raised but currently living in the in the Pacific Northwest with my partner and our polydactyl cat. =3 I'm most active on tumblr and neocities, but if you see a cyberneticdryad in the wild, it is probably me!

I am a lover of all things fiber arts (even the ones I haven't learned yet), linguistics, mythology, poetry, ecology, and journaling. On the fandom end, I love KotOR, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Wolf's Rain, Escaflowne, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and a host of other pieces of media that live rent free in my brain.

I am testing out using Dreamwidth as my longer form blogging platform for 2026 (also as part of my effort to be more active here in general). My most routine posts right now are my monthly media log, which is continuously updated through the month, and my weekly goals. Always happy to make new friends, though I'm still learning Dreamwidth, so feel free to nudge me in the right direction if needed!

Answering early as I have a long work day tomorrow (though maybe not if it snows).

  1. Have you ever watched illusion magic? Close-up, or in a stage show, or on television? Did it work for you?

I think most of what I have seen are street performers and performers at the renaissance faire. I'm not super knowledgeable about slight of hand, so I don't see through most of it, but I love explainations of how the tricks are done!

  2. Have you ever wished on a star, or a lucky cat, or a coin in a wishing well? Did it work in some way?

I have made many a wish, and I don't really know if they came true (so probably not). If any did, they were in unexpected ways or long after the fact when I had forgotten my wish!

  3. Have you ever cast a spell, made a love charm, or tried a curse? Did it work in some way?

    Yes and yes. =)

  4. Are there any other traditional superstitions you pay attention to? Do they work in some way?

I think I have more personal superstitions than traditional superstitions. I always say thank you when I don't have to stop at the intersections on my commute. I like to think they let me through a little more freely. And I still keep a penny in my car always (per a long disappeared internet friend) so that I'll never run out of money. Do they work? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have no proof, but they make me smile which counts for something.

  5. Would you want major magical powers like in a fantasy story? Which powers, and how would you use them?

If I had magic, I would probably use it in the most mundane ways. Extra cooking help. Extra crafting help. Give a little extra luster to a craft or some makeup. Extra light for late night reading! If I had to pick something major and specific though, I would love some kind of polymorph/shapechanging/illusion magic.

I was not brave, I did not start my sock heel. But it's a new week, I am in less pain, and the weather will be wet and cold, so I know I will want to be indoors more for crafty things! Also, haven't considered the way body pain impacts my creativity, but I think it might be time to. I don't think I did much of anything creative last week...

In other news, my manager is getting tested for hypermobility, and we've chatted about body things so she brought it up in relation to me and I... It might explain some things. Like the knee dislocation/sprain that I had a few years ago (and couldn't afford to see a doctor about at the time). And being so flexible without ever actually feeling stretched. I fit a lot of the criteria, and it is definitely something I'd like to talk to a doctor about (whenever I manage to find one who is actually accepting new patients and accepts my insurance). I was already trying to focus my exercise stuff on building stability so I can get back to running when the weather gets warmer, but I may need to pivot a little more to make sure I'm protecting my joints and ligaments a little better.

Routine
  • GYWO: Write 20 minutes 0/4
  • Exercise: 3/2
  • Bullet journal: 7/7

  • Return CDs to EV library
  • Set up optometrist appointments!

  1. Do you know of any other words for snow? What's your favourite and why?
I know spanish (nieve), italian (neve), japanese (yuki), and slovenian (sneg). I think of them, yuki is my favourite!

  2. What's your ideal temperature range for winter?

If I'm indoors, let the elements do as they will! Outdoors though, 40s to 70s are ideal (which is maybe biased by western Washington's nd Phoenix's respective climates).

  3. Favourite winter activity? What about it makes it your favourite?

I don't know that I have any winter specific activities that I love! Maybe I should change that for next year...

  4. What are three things you can't do without when winter arrives?

Cozy blankets, stompy boots (for keeping dry and upright on ice!), and leggings to layer under 90% of my outfits for the season.

  5. Do you have favourite winter holiday activities?

I enjoy baking cookies to share with folks for Christmas! =)

Can we tell I like putting off cleaning? Blinds are the worst, and I hate the hard flooring in our apartment because it is stupidly textured. X( Keeping my task list light because I think I feel some body things coming on, but will add things later in the week if I have the energy.

  1. What made you happy this week?

Got to talk to my mom for the first time in a month and got to hear about her and my dad's recent trip to Alaska. Also finally found some tangelos at the grocery store this week♡

  2. What made you sad?

The last episode of The Bad Batch! ToT Partially because I'm sad we finished it so quickly, partially because seeing old clones makes me sad.

  3. What made you angry?

Inconsiderate drivers, lack of initiative from other people, lack of understanding from others. The state of US politics. =')

  4. What are you looking forward to in the next week?

    Another trip to the library!

  5. What are you not looking forward to?

    A couple specific work things. >.>;;

Have not finished any projects since my last post, but I've made a little progress on most of them! Always chomping at the bit to pick up something new, but I've been doing good about making time for my current projects instead.

A day late as Friday got away from me, but here we are!

  1. Scrounge for change (couch, ashtray, etc.) to make a purchase?

I don't think I've had to do this in years aside from the occassional rummage through my purse to see if I have exact change.

  2. Visit a dentist?

Yesterday, but I work for one, sooooo...

  3. Make a needed change to your life?

I'm always making changes and tweaking things, but I think getting back to exercising last year has been one of the better ones I've made. Still working on feeling like it's routine, but I'm slowly getting stronger!

  4. Decide on a complete menu well in advance of the evening meal?

I meal plan once a week, so I typically have that all squared up each Wednesday.

  5. Spend part of the day (other than daily hygiene) totally/mostly naked?

Hmmmm, this one is harder. Maybe one of my days home alone during a heatwave the last couple of years? We don't have central air conditioning, and I don't tend to like to use our portable unit unless I absolutely have to.

Happy Monday, all! We have finally reached the limbo of "will it snow or not" for my area, so these outside the house plans are trying to be optimistic. Whether it snows or not, the overnight temps have me more worried about ice on the roads, so we shall see.

Routine
  • GYWO: Write 20 minutes 3/4
  • Exercise: 2/2
  • Bullet journal: 7/7

Tasks
  • Solo date (EV library and journal brunch at that vegan place on Wednesday)
  • Sock knitting: 2/10 rows (stalled as it's heel time!)
  • Return SI library books
  • Home decor order
  • Clean blinds
  • Swiffer floors

Apologies for any weird grammar/typos. I inherited my partner's illness of the week and am bundled up on the couch. ToT Here's to feeling better next week!

  1. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I desperately wanted to be a marine biologist as a kid. I still love marine biology as a field, but decided that it wasn't fully what I wanted to pursue as a job.

  2. What is your proudest accomplishment so far?

The last couple of moves I coordinated. The first was after a rough breakup, and it was my first time living alone. It felt so joyous to have a place of my own! And the second one was the move from our roommates' house into an apartment with just my partner. It's had its problems, but coordinating everything to make a space ours was a wonderful way to start the year when it happened.

  3. What is your dream job?

I would love to do some kind of work with my hands. Love making and repairing things, and I think it'd be better suited to my personality. I have a ways to go before I'd make it in any of those fields though. Otherwise (and I haven't done this because I would have to go back to school and all of my student loans are currently paid off), I would love to do some kind of museum curation/archival studies job to further my anthropology degree.

  4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Hopefully in some kind of property that I own, in a job I dread a little less, doing more of the things that bring me peace.

  5. What does it take to make you happy?

Novelty. Sunshine after weeks of cloudy weather. The first robin of spring. Silly jokes. Good food. Lots of little things to make life better.

Apparently can't count as I labeled last week as week 5, but it has been fixed now, lol.

Pivoted last week to take care of deep cleaning the apartment for the season with my sudden magical time off at work (read: closure because mechanical repairs needed to happen). I still have a few one off-tasks, but I think we're in a better spot for me to actually declutter and organize this year.

Routine
  • GYWO: Write 20 minutes 3/4
  • Exercise 0/2 (Body issues strike again. Maybe I just need to find something simple to fall back on for weeks like this...)

Tasks
  • Schedule ONE medical appointment (Let the record show I finally did make the calls, but something dumb is going on with my insurance and their relationship with the clinics in our area. Will need to do some research to find somewhere different to go, probably closer to work than home.)
  • Solo date
  • Sock knitting: 10/10 rows (Had my first dropped stitch this week. Think I got it fixed right, but we shall see.)
  • Audit Calad shirt progress (I was correct that I was through the big sections and onto the fiddly bits! Think I did two rows too many on one panel, and need to find my notes for an aesthetic modification I was going to make on the pattern, but think I am in a good place to finish by the end of June!)

Delaying
  • Return library books (I forgot my books at home. =') Whoops.)
  • Steam finished handspun (Forgot my finished yarn is hiding behind some boxes, so body says not this week...)

Happy coincidence that today happens to be my hair bleaching/dyeing day!

  1. What type of hair do you have? (Thin, Normal, Thick, Frizzy, etc.)

My hair thickness is average, but the strands of my hair are very fine, so you'd never guess until you start working with it, lol. It's wavy as long as I'm not somewhere with hard water longterm, and sometimes I can coax a ringlet or two out of it!

  2. What color is your hair currently?

Soon to be a fresh shade of teal! =3 I've been various shades of blue/teal/green since 2017, but my natural color is brown.

  3. What colors have you dyed/highlighted your hair?

I've dyed it a couple shades of pink, pastel purple, dark indigo (the WORST bleeding ever), plus the aforementioned blues, greens and teals. An ex-friend did a multicolored job where I let her pick the colors (not what I would have picked, and it faded poorly, but it was a fun time). When I used to go to a salon, I would get more natural looking blonde and strawberry blonde highlights.

  4. If you could dye your hair any color, what would it be?

I already do this. >=3 I do think about going back to pink every so often though.

  5. What is your hair's length?

It's past my shoulder blades when dry, and closer to my mid-back when wet/straightened.

Trying to set reasonable goals this week to balance out work. I keep putting the medical appointment scheduling off because all medical things make me nervous, but I gotta do it!! EDIT: My work is having to close the rest of my scheduled days this week, so more time for home things?

Routine
  • GYWO: Write 20 minutes 3/4
  • Exercise 1/2 (but I did clean my whole apartment?)

Tasks
  • Schedule ONE medical appointment
  • Payment plan call
  • Cafe solo date
  • Sock knitting: 16/10 rows
  • Steam finished handspun
  • Audit Calad shirt progress
  • New library card
  • Deep clean bedroom
  • Deep clean living room
  • Bleach and dye hair

Delaying
  • Return library books (putting off to next week due to work schedule change)

I actually got a lot done this past week, though most of it was general upkeep rather than my goals list as brainfog and exhaustion made things a little harder. On the bright side, I think my cough has finally subsided enough that I can do some running this week!
  • GYWO: Write 20 minutes 4/4
  • Exercise 2/2
  • Finish cleaning desk
  • Schedule ONE medical appointment
  • Declutter Bedroom
  • Bake Cookies for Work
  • Clean Car Windows (also took her to the car wash!)

Happy Sunday, all! I try really hard to get all of our household chores and errands done on my other days off as this is the only day off my partner and I share, so it's a relief to have finally reached my rest day.

This past week was my first week back to work after our closure for the holidays. It's nice going back to work and not feeling the full-bodied dread I've felt about returning to other jobs, but I think it has been exchanged for tired resignation because of all of the changes that have happened in the last year at the office. I don't have any plans to leave soon, but with the planned development of the office, I don't know that I want to stay here forever. Especially when my work days have me so exhausted that I'm on the verge of falling asleep as soon as I sit on the couch.

On the bright side, we did have our holiday dinner last night! Also a relief as our owner had me organize everything, and I had been worried I had messed up something in the booking process. The food was good, and I had a nice time getting to spend some social time with the clinical staff, but the service was so crazy slow. We were only supposed to have the room for 2.5 hours, and we were there for almost four! >.>;; Only a mild inconvenience for me, but a third of our staff had organized childcare with the expectation they would be home way sooner.

I'm looking forward to this week though. We're supposed to have some more sunshine which is always a blessing this time of year despite the cold that'll come with it. Which reminds me, I need to work on getting better cold exercise gear. Would love to try running the lake this season, but I get too cold in my current gear. Hoping to also get some more hobby time this week to work on crochet/knitting things now that I'm caught up from the holidays.
